Here at re:3D we are currently researching and trying to learn more about 3D Scanning and how we can implement the process into our everyday needs. This post will have updates and pictures of the scanning process and quality of the Einscan Pro + Scanner.

Hatim Sulemanji Today was our first trial to scan a 3D printed object and then print it out to see how the quality of the print is different from the original. The Einscan pro gave very good quality for our initial scan. We scanned a small arch as the object. Attached are pictures of the original object and the 3d printed object from the scan.

Hatim Sulemanji For the last few months we have been experimenting with the EinScan Pro + to get accurate scans efficiently. I have made a PowerPoint to help any beginner using the EinScan Pro +. This presentation can also help any new 3d scanner learn about simple concepts and techniques that are used throughout 3D scanning. The link to the powerpoint is https://drive.google.com/file/d/1trP3_iLU0ghuy5Dhe9eeVLoXWb3j8ezR/view?usp=sharing .
An object we scanned was a 3D printed t-rex head.We have had success getting scans of the objects in the past, but one of our biggest drawbacks is the use of markers. When you use markers the area shows up as a hole in the software. The hole filling option can be used but can sometimes give some weird results if the surface of the object around the hole is not smooth. If the hole filling option does not work, Meshmixer smoothing tool also helped smooth out the indents created from hole filling. After using Meshmixer and the smoothing tool, the surface of the scanned t-rex part had much less indents. We then printed the scanned t-rex head and it looked very similar to originally scanned version.

Hatim Sulemanji One of our biggest challenges so far with 3D scanning came after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. There were many coral reefs and coral around the country that was damaged or destroyed from the storm. Coral went sent to the Houston office and we have scanned different corals over the last few months. The idea is to be able to recreate and use the scans to artificiality create new coral to help the ecosystem and environment. Below are some of the best coral scans we received using the EinScan Pro + 3D Scanner.
