it seems that it is harder and pricier to get 2.85mm filaments as 1.75mm is the standard now. have the team looked into a conversion kit?
has this been tried?

There has been some work done on converting Gigabot to allow for 1.75mm filament. Changes that will need to be made:
- Filament detection units for 1.75mm filament - Right and Left
- 1.75mm Filament tube
- Push fitting connectors with 1/8" NPT threads between filament detection and filament tube and between filament tube and extruder body.
- Hot end designed for 1.75mm filament and E3D V6 compatible groove mount.
The typical 1.75mm hot end may have a PTFE liner that extends up into the extruder. The filament path on your extruder may need to be bored out to accept the PTFE tube on the hot end.
We don't currently offer a complete kit but please let me know if you have any questions.
