Is there a way to make the steppers quieter. Either some adjustments or alternate drivers?

Mike Battaglia Official comment Hi Andrew,
Are you using our standard layer heights? If you are hearing a high pitched squeal, it can be avoided by using our layer heights and slightly tweaking the Z home position until you no longer hear it. This is the sound of our powerful stepper motors holding position in between steps. To prevent this, we can make our layers correlate with full steps by using the below layer heights.
a. .1058mm
b. .2223mm
c. .3175mm
d. .3810mmTo learn more, here’s a great video that explains it very well.

Matthew Fiedler Hi Andrew,
What type of noise are you getting from your steppers? The motor sound is generally regarded as being quiet on Gigabot. If you are experiencing noisy motors it may be an indication of a problem. Would it be possible to email support@re3d.org with an audio file?

Andrew St Peter I wouldnt say they are overly loud (except for the Z axis) We just moved our gigabot into the office and it would be nice if it was a bit quieter. I have been reading about the stepper drivers with stealth chop as well as learning about tuning the steppers for a lower voltage.
