It has been a busy summer here at re:3D HQ wrenching away on the pellet extruder. The prototype we highlighted in the last update has been finished and has been printing for the past few weeks. This includes the following features.
- All metal Extruder Body
- Updated firmware to match the new Gigabot firmware release
- Dual Y limit switches
- Nema 23 motors on both the extruder and the X axis
- Full Linear Rails in both x and y
Using it we have been able to validate a few of the materials MTU has been testing. They have continued to make some amazing parts on the Gigabot X and have been recently focusing on large parts. They have made a snowshoe, kayak paddles and my personal favorite a cruiser skateboard.
Not to be outdone we decided we had to do one as well but out of recycled PET.
We still have a few more things to button up on the final Gigabot X before we can give it the re:3D stamp of approval and ship it out. As we make these tweaks we will keep you updated and continue posting here on the forums.
Thanks and happy printing!!!
