As you can see from the picture below, we had problems at two points during the print. This was done on our new pellet printer (Gigabot X) in PET. The problem sections are a single extrusion thick as is the section between them. What went wrong?

Samantha Reeve The first (bottom) failure was intermittent extrusion caused by the extruder motor trying to turn too fast and exceeding the torque of the motor. We resolved this by slowing the print down. The top (second) failure was a gap and then over-extrusion. The printer ran out of pellets and then we forced it to over extrude to catch back up.
To prevent other from having these issues we changed the gear box on the extruder motor to allow it to turn faster under load and added a larger hopper with over 24 hours of print capability.
