Overview
Simplify3D is our preferred slicing and printer hosting program. Not only does it lead the market in parameter customization and features like customizable support generation, but Simplify3D best handles the large print jobs that Gigabot users make on a daily basis. The factory file functionality also enables us to better support and troubleshoot with customers. We recommend this if you are looking for a robust and reliable software workflow.
Your Gigabot is fully compatible with open source programming tools supported by the RepRap community. We have included profiles for Slic3r and Cura if you do not wish to use Simplify3D.

Simplify3D FFF Profiles
Current installations of Simplify3D will not have the most updated printing profiles for your Gigabot, so the following steps outline how to import a new profile:
Download and install the Simplify3D profile below for your printer. Note that each profile is specific to a certain Gigabot model (GB3, GB3 XL, etc.).
Instructions:
- Click on the profile link for your Gigabot model: GB3/GB3+ | GB3+ (Mondo) | Terabot | Open GB | GB2 | GBX
- In the new window, right-click on the link at the top of the page and choose "save link as." This will download the file to your computer.
- Open Simplify3D.
- Go to File -> Import .fff Profile.
- Choose the updated .fff configuration file for your machine.
This will add it to the list of profiles you can choose from in Simplify3D. Before starting a new print, click on the "Edit Process Settings" button on the left side of the page. It will open the print settings, and you will need to select the newly-imported profile from the drop-down list.

Slic3r
If you are not using Simplify3D to prepare your 3D model for printing, you can use Slic3r. Slic3r takes a 3D model (usually a .stl file) and turns it into G-code. G-code is the instructions for the 3D printer to create the part. A more detailed explanation of G-code can be found on the RepRap wiki.
Instructions:
- Download and install Slic3r.
- Read the complete Slic3r manual.
- Download Slic3r settings for your Gigabot to your local computer:
- Open Slic3r and go to File -> Preferences -> Mode -> Expert.
- Click OK and follow the prompt to restart Slic3r.
- Once you have restarted Slic3r, go to File -> Load Configuration.
- Choose the Gigabot_Slic3r_config.ini configuration file you saved earlier.
Cura
Cura is a free slicer software that is commonly used in the 3D printing industry. While we primarily focus on using Simplify3D, we have created a few Cura profiles and a step-by-step guide for how to use them.
